Amber Paterson joined the Tuxedo Physiotherapy Team in 2018. Amber has 20 years of health care experience, she graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2000 with a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation in Occupational Therapy. She has worked in neurosurgery rehabilitation, acute medicine, orthopedic surgery and community hospitals. She also currently works in the community with older adults and clients who have chronic pain, anxiety or depression. Amber has a special interest in neurological rehabilitation and chronic pain management. She has completed certification training in Neuro-Developmental Treatment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Advanced Pain Management. Management. Over the past year, Amber has had the opportunity to assist with Neuro-developmental Treatment webinars and an in-person introductory course. Amber participated in The Canadian Pain Task Force consultations and has co-facilitated Interprofessional Education on the management of chronic pain for the University of Manitoba. Amber also completed the Manitoba Indigenous Cultural Safety Training - a 10 hour course completed over 8 weeks.

 

Amber is dedicated to helping people optimize their independence and ability to accomplish daily activities (work related, leisure related, self-care) following an injury or situations of physical or cognitive impairment. For example, she has assisted a patient by making a custom foot splint, assessed and implemented grab bars for a patient that was at high risks for falls, assisted a brain injured patient to learn to cook again and guided an elderly patient with dementia to walk and take the stairs again. You can be assured that Amber will guide you or your family member with kindness, compassion, knowledge and experience.  

 

In her free time Amber enjoys going for walks, swimming and gardening with her family. Amber is a dog and cat lover, so she has one of each.
